ABOUT ME.
Hello! My name is Jianna (Jia) Avellanosa and I am a first-year Biological Sciences major here at UC Irvine. I decided on pursuing biology because I believe the human body is an interesting topic to study. My goal for this class is to become an effective communicator.
WRITING 39A!
Writing 39A is an English writing class that heavily focuses on metacognitive reading, academic discourse, and scholarly prose writing. By the end of the course, students are expected to effectively explain and answer the course question:

How do Disney films contribute to the construction of society's values and norms about gender roles? Have these values changed over time?
​
Students are also expected to hold to one's self-improvement through self and peer criticism, which will encourage a more open, engaged, and creative mindset. Overall, this class is meant to encourage writing improvement, but also personal improvement.
